Recent Events

SCDN Community Development Manifesto Launch

SCDN held a meeting on 19th April 2007, at the Quaker House Edinburgh to launch our Manifesto, or Vision Statement for Community Development.

Candidates for the Scottish Parliament, from Labour, the Liberal Democrats and the Greens attended, and participated in a lively discussion and question and answer session, around the Manifesto and national support for Community Development.

SCDN AGM 2007

Our Annual General Meeting took place in theTeachers Building, St Enoch’s Square, Glasgow on 29th March.

SCDN Chair Susan Paxton reported on the previous year's activities.

The meeting also provided the chance to talk about an important new report endorsed by the UK Government, 'The Community Development Challenge' and how we might make use of that in Scotland.

'Strengthening Communities' Conference

May 30th to 1st June 2007

This was the annual conference of Community Learning and Development Managers Scotland (CLDMS), and had a focus on Community Development.

The event took place in Aberdeen, and was hosted by Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire Councils.

The event took place over 3 days with a variety of speakers and workshops.

Materials from the event are in preparation, and a link to these will be added in due course.
