Neighbourhood Work

SCDN believe there is need for increased focus on, and proper resourcing of Community Development at neighbourhood level. This is the foundation of both community representation on participation structures, and development of local services by communities.

Key points from relevant discussions at SCDN's 2004 Conference are noted below.

Huge unmet need for neighbourhood CD

Responsibility for neighbourhood work falls between agencies.

Limited resources make it necessary to focus on a limited number of 'priority' neighbourhoods.
